Every three years it is mandatory for security personnel to retrain selected units of study through a recognised training provider in order to retain their security licence. Notification of your requirements will be posted to you along with a completion date. Units can be completed as a package or individually.

Units include:

Apply First Aid: Learn the skills required to assess situations, apply first aid procedures, and communicate details of an incident. There are often amendments to first aid techniques (including CPR technique) and it is compulsory to refresh your CPR training.

Manage conflict through negotiation: Gain the ability to interpret and comply with legal and procedural requirements during a security risk situation. Elements addressed in this unit: assess conflict, negotiate resolution, and evaluate conflict response.

Control persons using empty hand techniques: This unit of competency has a wide application in the security industry it is important to stay informed with current techniques and legislative requirements. Learn how to identify the need to use empty hand techniques, apply defensive techniques, isolate subject and evaluate response.

Regulatory Requirements from the Department of Fair Trading.

Department of Fair Trading refers to the training required by Crowd Controllers and holders of a Security licence as ‘Triennial Revalidation Training”. It should be noted that due the nature of a refresher course, recognition of prior learning is not accepted for triennial training units.
